Shrimp Butter

This is a very easy & DELICIOUS recipe. (Warning: it's addictive!) I made it last Monday for a Christmas party at the theater. And since people have been bringing snacks to work all week, i doubled the recipe & brought some to work as well. It was empty by the end of the day & it was a hit at the party, too!

{My apologies to those of you who do not like shrimp!! I'd say use crab or something instead, but i'm thinking if you don't like shrimp, you probably don't like crab either?! (I'm not a fan myself. But i LOVE shrimp!)}

SHRIMP BUTTER
from my dear friend Robyn, who is awesome.
(& i typically say "shrimp dip" because i feel weird saying "shrimp butter". idk why.)

1 8-oz package cream cheese (room temp)
1/2 cup butter (room temp)
4 Tablespoons mayo
1 small onion, grated
2 (4.5 oz) cans shrimp, drained & chopped*
1 lemon, juiced
a pinch of cayenne pepper
salt & pepper to taste

In a bowl, combine all ingredients & chill.

Remove from fridge & allow to come to room temp - about 1 to 1.5 hours.

Serve with crackers. Delicious with wheat thins or triscuits.

*So people keep asking about this canned shrimp! Haha. That was on the original recipe. I have never had trouble finding it. It is by the tuna fish! However, i am sure it is perfectly fine to use fresh shrimp as well!

DELISH!

  1. If I liked shrimp, I would make that!

I've only had crab cakes and I love those, but I'm not sure if I like plain crab. Haha, strange, I know!

  2. sounds good, but is canned shrimp a local thing in Louisiana? I don't think I've ever seen it here in Arkansas.
