New Year's Day

Yesterday was a good day. The first of the year. My thoughtful hubby woke me up at 7:15 to see if i wanted coffee. Umm, NO, thank you! I didn't even get my 8 hours of sleep yet! And it's Saturday! I love coffee, but i love my sleep more! HAHA. I went back to sleep. At 9:00 on the dot, i woke up. And what was Brad doing?

ORGANIZING!
Cleaning!
Throwing stuff away!

A dream come true!!! =)

I decided to join him. He was mainly working on the middle room & his studio...I got to work in the kitchen. I feel like we have NO cabinet space, and it is always driving me crazy. I recently re-organized the bottom cabinets, yesterday i got to work on the top ones. Got rid of a TON of mugs that we never use. Moved stuff around...it's a lot better & i'm liking it. Yay!

Here are the results. I wish i had taken a "before" photo, but you'll just have to trust me. MUCH better!

plastic cups, travel mug, emma plates & red plates/bowls.

The plate-holder thingie was a wedding gift & i'm just now using it! Putting some Emma dishes here gives us more cabinet space.

My ORGANIZED spice & things cabinet! LOVE! It was kind of a mess before (actually, the coffee mugs went here before.)

coffee stuff/baking stuff/measuring cups (in the basket)/bowls & cups that only brad uses & coffee mugs =)

ahhh- my favorite bowls, glasses, emma mugs (bottom row)
dessert plates/saucers & the navy dishes that mainly brad uses (top row)
Notice i put a lot of stuff only Brad uses on the top shelf. Since he is TALL! & hopefully i won't have to ask him to reach things for me as much anymore!

Anyway, we made progress, though next i wanna tackle our bedroom!

At 4, we went to Brad's parent's house for a delicious New Year's Day meal. They invited my parents over, too, so that was fun!! We had a great time, eating & visiting. Now, it's a southern tradition to have black eyed peas & cabbage on New Year's Day. My family has never done that, ever. I like black-eyed peas, but not cabbage. But i've always known it's a southern tradition (that we don't participate in), because i've always heard friends talking about it! Well, i told brad that i don't like cabbage, but that since his mom was making it, i probably would. After all, i always hated grits until i had his mom's. The woman can COOK! =)

I was right. Loved the cabbage. I'm a texture person, so i just didn't think i would. But i did. Delicious. The black-eyed peas were delicious too. It was served on rice & we had cornbread on the side. It was all AMAZING. And if that's all it takes for health & wealth in 2011, then i'm gonna be mad i waited until age 32 to join in! Haha (kidding). Today we went to their house after church for leftovers. Maybe having it on January 1st AND 2nd means DOUBLE the health & wealth? =)

Well, it's back to work tomorrow! I also begin a new workout regime - Body BaYou Bootcamp!! I'm EXCITED! It's a group training class at 4:45. It's gonna be great. That is Monday, Wednesday & Saturday. Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, i will be either walking the lake or hitting the gym. Woohoo!

By the way, Sarah's special for the group training is still going on (though it orginally was supposed to end 12/31), so let me know if you are interested in joining in! It's being held at Magnolia Methodist in Central.

Happy New Year, once again!

  2. I need to organize my cabinets as well, we have limited cabinet space (and I mean SERIOUSLY limited haha) but I think it would be better if it was actually organized!
