Resolutions & whatnot.

I changed my background. Again. Why? Well, i have this problem. I cannot open any blogs with a design from Shabby Blogs. I don't know why this is, but i think it has something to do with Internet Explorer. At home, i have Firefox & no problems, but at work, i have blog issues. And one of them is not being able to open the ones from Shabby Blogs. (And I can't download Firefox at work.) And i'm not bashing Shabby Blogs, by the way - i love them & they have beautiful designs! But i have to be able to view my blog sometimes, you know? Anyway...I tried to find one that matched the header i currently have...i'm not sure if it goes or not? If not, i am going to start over. Opinions?

How am i doing with my New Year's Resolutions? Well, so far...GREAT! I know it's only a week in, but I am still glad I have done so well this week.

1- Read the Bible in a Year
So far I am right on schedule. Yay! I am enjoying it. The plan i am following has me reading something from Genesis, Psalms, Proverbs & Matthew right now. It is all interesting & profound. I love Psalms. I just love it. And Proverbs is full of wisdom. One of my favorite chapters in the Bible is Psalm 1. I had to memorize that in second grade & i still remember it...mostly. ;)

Last year, I had this same resolution & my friend Laura asked me how i was doing. I wasn't reading the Bible anymore at that point AT ALL. She suggested i read with her... we went through a few books of the Bible together & emailed each other about what we read. It wasn't strict at all, but it was just helpful knowing someone was reading along with you. It was awesome & got me back to reading! If you need some accountability like that, i would be glad to help you. :) Just let me know!

I was posting "verse of the day" in the "resolution" tab above, but i stopped doing that. It was tedious & i'd always forget to post something. But trust me - i am reading!!

By the way, I just today decided to join Rebekah & some other blog readers in a Bloggie Bible Study! We're going to be reading A Woman After God's Own Heart by Elizabeth George. Rebekah will be co-leading it with a friend, and so each week they will put the questions from the study guide up & you will answer them in your blog & link up. Sounds pretty low-key to me! I ordered the book today at Amazon & it was 11 bucks. I'm pretty excited about this! It'll be fun! It starts February 2nd, by the way. Find out more about it here! I'm really looking forward to it!

2- Be Healthy
I am doing AWESOME!!! :)
I have eaten healthy EVERYDAY.
On Monday & Wednesday, i took a group training class.
On Tuesday & Thursday, I walked the lakes.
I have been drinking my water like crazy, too.

At work we are doing a Weigh-Down challenge, and since i think i only told about it on my other blog, I thought i'd tell you here also. Basically, everyone that is participating has to pay $10. We weigh every Friday (today was our first weigh-in) until Easter & whoever has the highest percentage of weightloss, wins all the money. You also have to pay $1 everytime you gain. Woohoo - talk about incentive! (For me, it's not even the money. It's that i have to weigh in front of the director at work - i would DIE if i kept gaining! HA!)

3- Learn my new camera & take a pic a day on FB
I have taken a new pic each day since the new year began. My new camera came in on Tuesday & I LOVE IT! I haven't gotten to practice with it as much as i would like, but that time will come this weekend. :) I plan to find myself a camera bag so i'll be able to take it places! I also am hoping to get to the Farmer's Market & afterwards, i'm going to go to the lakes...NOT for exercise...but to snap some pictures!

4- Save Money
This has to be a priority. This week, i have brought my lunch to work everyday & we will only be eating out once (this Saturday). But i was only put on the Manship schedule 1 time for January! Not a lot of shows this month. Oh-well. I will be doing my budget this month & will set aside some extra money!

4- Organize
I started off the new year right - i organized my kitchen! Wahoo! Next will be our bedroom. Not planning to do that this weekend, though.

So there ya have it. Not too bad with those resolutions! :)

Whatcha got going on this weekend? I'm so ready for it! Today i'm going to RELAX. Tomorrow, i have another group training class at 8 am! (Lord, help me!) Then, i plan to hit the Farmer's Market, find a camera bag, get my car washed & take lots of pics with my new camera! Tomorrow night we're going on a double date with our friends Aimie & Jason. Aimie was my roomie before we got married & we STILL have not gone on a double date! I mean, Aimie & i have gotten together a few times, but that's it. Anyway, we're going to dinner & to see the Narnia movie. Yay! Sunday, church & more relaxation. :)

Hope you have a great weekend!

  1. These are great! We must be doing the same reading for the Bible in one year because I'm ready those 4 books now. Can I just say Genesis is overwhelming? With all of the lineages of people that they list? Haha. Thanks for the shout out! I'm so glad you're doing the Blog Bible Study!

  2. Oooh... the blog Bible study is a great idea! I've thought about doing something like that a few times but it just doesn't fit in with everything else I have going on. I can't lead a Bible study with friends AND online. Too much at once. :( Someday though! It's gonna happen.

I'll be saving money too. Mike was in charge of the budget last year. Didn't go super well. I took over and I'm going all kinds of crazy on it right now. Seriously... you would cry at the dinners we've been having haha. It's like being in college again. But I WANT. THAT HOUSE. Grr.

  4. So glad you have committed to reading through the Bible this year. I have read the Bible in a year for the past 2-3 years through CBN.com. I get an email each day with a link to the chapters to be read. Today was Genesis 18-19 and Matthew 6:1-18. It has worked out pretty well.

I didn't actually make any "resolutions" but my goals are very similar to yours.

Have a great weekend! I can't wait to see the pics!

  5. I'm not sure I'm doing very well with my resolutions. I need to budget. But I'm currently scared at what it may look like!
