Memorial Day

Memorial Day was just a quiet day with the hubby. :) We slept in, I got some cleaning done, and we went to Ashley Furniture to pick out something. Brad's mom had given me a $100 "bargain bee" coupon. It's the same kind of thing as Groupon. Woohoo! Originally, my mom was going to come with me, but she went out of town this weekend & my groupon expires tomorrow! So i got Brad to come instead. He didn't really want to. At all. I told him we'd go in separate cars & he could leave if it took longer than 30 minutes haha. There is an Ashley Furniture about 2 minutes away, thankfully, or I probably would have been on my own! Anyway, he agreed to go & it only took about 20 minutes. I *told* him I wouldn't take too long! Haha. There are some women who take FOREVER in stores... I am not one of them! :)

I ended up getting a set of bookshelves that are REALLY nice. I went in hoping to find 1 or 2 nice end tables. But I didn't love any of the ones that i saw (except ones that were too expensive, in my opinion). I had $100 off but honestly couldn't afford to spend much more than that. I came upon some nice bookshelves & decided to get those. We can always use bookshelves! We had them ordered & they will be in June 18th. Would have been a week earlier, but we'll be in Florida. I'm so excited! Here is a pic of them that I found online... they're really well-made. I like them a lot!

Aren't they gorgeous? You'll see when i take a pic of them here at home. The pic doesn't do justice. I also want to go back. Haha. We could use a new armoire, table & chairs & couches. I always say I want new couches next. But other new things will wait until we get a house (one of these days). Actually, couches can wait too. But they will probably be the next thing I get... we'll see. :)

For dinner, i cooked up some potatoes that Brad's mom gave to me straight from somebody's garden. YUM! I steamed broccoli & sauteed some shrimp. SUCH a delicious dinner!! :) We watched The King's Speech, which i absolutely LOVED. What an inspirational movie. You should netflix it! :)

And if you have already seen it in theatres, you still should netflix it (or whatever) because the DVD extras are a MUST watch. Very interesting. For example - they knew nothing about Lionel Logue, the therapist (played by Geoffrey Rush, one of my favorite actors). They said most of his part was just made up by the screenwriter. But 9 weeks before the shoot, they found his grandson, living in England & guess what he had? Lionel Logue's diary, which included conversations he had with the king! A few of the lines in the movie are from the diary. Very very cool. There is an interview with the grandson in the extras, among other interesting things. I really enjoyed the movie.

So time for bed... NOT going to stay up too late & be late to work tomorrow... that was last week. This week is a new week! Haha. So happy it's only a 4 day work week. Ooh & my office bff who has been on maternity leave for forEVER is coming back! YES!! :)

{Happy Memorial Day}
So thankful for those who fought for our freedom, including my dad (Vietnam), & my late "Papajoe", "Papaw" & "Uncle Booky" (WWII).

Lauren & Connor's Wedding

Saturday night was Lauren's wedding! Lauren is my friend from bootcamp. We met in January at our very first bootcamp class. She was sitting on her mat & i walked in & put mine next to her. We introduced ourselves, and the rest is history! Haha. Seriously, we just seemed to hit it off right away. I know that i liked her immediately and was super excited when she invited me to her wedding.

Lauren is just gorgeous - & just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She is a Christian & she & Connor grew up together in their church youth group. I have never met Connor, but heard so many good things about him at the wedding! :) I am so happy for Lauren...it seems like it's one of those marriages that God set up. :)

We really enjoyed ourselves... the wedding was at Maranatha Fellowship in Baton Rouge (where she goes to church) & the reception was at Forest Grove Plantation in Denham Springs. It was a beautiful wedding. Everything was pink - her favorite color. :) Enjoy the pics!

 So cute! :)

 Beautiful Bridesmaids

 Her ringbearer was SO cute!

Connor repeated his vows & then when he was finished, the pastor started again for Lauren to repeat them. But Connor started repeating them AGAIN! Hahaha. She's like,"It's my turn!" It was hilarious. And cute. We had a similar thing happen at our wedding when Brad cut off the pastor to say "I do!" And now it's one of my favorite wedding day memories!

 So happy!

 the cake!

Me & my hot date. ;)

Ran into Amanda, who will be a bride herself on June 25th! My sis-in-law is one of her bridesmaids.

 First dance. So sweet.

I like sideways pics. Haha. Thought you might like to see more of her gorgeous dress!

 Aww.

Kristy is a theatre friend of mine - & it seems I run into her everywhere EXCEPT the theatre! Haha! I wish I had my camera with me at the other places LOL. It's crazy! Turns out, Connor works for Kristy's husband. Crazy. (Side Note: She is fabulously talented & just got cast as Miss Hannigan in Annie! Ha! Can't wait to see that! :)

Snuck this pic of her dress. :)

 Me & Lauren! Yay!

 Isn't she gorgeous?!

 Lauren & her adorable ringbearer.

Lauren & her photographer, Megan. Megan is also a bootcamp buddy & she is HILARIOUS. She is always cracking me up during class! (P.S. Look at the ringbearer's face! This is right after Lauren asked him to take a pic with her. I think he was excited.) :)

So we had a great time & I am so looking forward to hanging out with Lauren when she gets back from her honeymoon!!

Team Kellie!

My good friend Laura has been posting a lot about a girl named Kellie. She was in a bad car accident in April & since then, has made lots of progress regaining her strength. You can read Kellie's story here.

Thankfully the car accident & her injuries are not the whole story. God has an amazing plan for Kellie & it is evident as she gets stronger & stronger every single day.

Kellie made the news. I just watched the video & it made me cry. And it made me want to do something. Please please watch. But you may want to grab some kleenex first. :)

I think it is so awesome that Kellie has so many great friends & family members trying to help her to get better. And her fiance - what a keeper! I love Kellie's strength & determination.

I am definitely going to be sending this girl something. You can too. Just send her a card to let her know you are praying for her! Or send a donation. Every little bit counts!

Please visit TEAM KELLIE to make a donation, send a card or check on her progress.

Praying for you, Kellie!!

I love 3-day weekends.

I am really loving my blog's new look. I know there's no fancy header or super cute fonts, but I like it anyway. I may add those things or maybe not. What do you think? I like the colors! I think it says "SUMMERTIME". But maybe not. Maybe that's just me. :)

I'm so excited for a 3-day weekend! Ahhhhh.

Yesterday, I was kinda missing those in-laws. I just love them! We went over there for some coffee & a little visit. We had a great time. They crack me up!

Today I got up & headed to bootcamp. Last one of May. The new session starts June 6th, if anyone wants to join! I get $10 off for every referral...hint hint!
Now I'm just hanging out until time to leave for my friend Lauren's wedding! I am so excited. I met her in January at bootcamp & she quickly became my buddy there. We do a lot of things where you have to have a partner & she is always mine. Or shall i say "was" - she can't come back until August. (Sad-face.) But anyway, i'm super excited about her wedding - I've already seen a sneak peek of her bridals & wow! GORGEOUS bride! :)

Lauren (the bride to be) with her mom & sister. :)

Speaking of weddings, last night was the wedding of Lee & Paula!! I am so sad I wasn't able to make it. :( But I am very happy for the two of them! They're so happy & in love! I heard their wedding was beautiful. Here she is in that gorgeous dress! Love it!

This was taken by my good friend Kyle LeMaire. I love his photos. He has a new website which is pretty fantastic. :)

Tomorrow is CHURCH. I have missed a lot lately & we are definitely going to get ourselves there in the morning! I miss it! Sunday afternoon I will be attending a "Homegoing Celebration" of my very best friend Sarah's stepdad, Mr. Richard. He has been in her life for the last 17 years or so & she loves him like he's her own father. He was always very kind to me & he loved studying the word of God. Please pray for Sarah & her mom if you get a chance! He's been sick for awhile, and we know that he is now in heaven rejoicing with the Lord!

After that, I have to head to the theatre to house manage a rental..it's actually a performance by the Cangelosi Dance Project. She was my jazz teacher when i was little & she later choreographed Best Little Whorehouse in Texas at BRLT. i love working her shows at the theatre because she has some AMAZING dancers that i love to watch. :)

And then MONDAY...ahhhh. A day off. Mostly we will just hang out. I may even - gasp! - get some cleaning done! I can't wait to go to Ashley Furniture & spend the Groupon my MIL got me...worth $100! I think we are also having Brad's parents over for dinner & a movie. The King's Speech came in on Netflix & I can't wait to watch it!

Right now... it's quiet. Ahhhh. I'm on the couch & Brad's in his favorite chair. Fievel is laying on the floor by the couch. It feels perfect in here & all you can hear is the dishwasher. Love days like this.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Fill in the Blanks. (& Happy Friday!)

And now it's time to fill in some blanks. :) Link up at Lauren's!

1. If I could get away somewhere for the weekend, I would go back to the Bed & Breakfast in St. Francisville where we stayed for the first 2 nights of our honeymoon (Butler Greenwood) & I would bring Brad, my camera, and lots of books & magazines.

2. Something I often rant about is panhandlers. I know it sounds mean, but enough already! I am seriously starting to wonder if i have a sign on my forehead that says "ask me for money". I'd love to help someone in need, but I'm pretty sure these guys are NOT in need! I had one ask me for gas money today. Um, dude, I'm only filling my own tank up halfway! We're all struggling here. Sorry! I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it does.

3. One item I need to have in the fridge at all times is water. I drink it all day long & i like it COLD.

4. My "life saving" product is chapstick. I know. Boring. :)

5. A friend is someone who keeps your secrets, is there for you no matter what, understands where you're coming form even when you're being a moron, & - when you're unable to hang out for months at a time - you pick up right where you left off when you do finally get together. Love that.

6. If I could write my own blank, it would be: The 2 "celebrities" I would love to have lunch with would be Lisa Bevere & Beth Moore and the 2 girlfriends I would have to bring with me would be Laura & Patti. :)

7. My favorite kind of art is photography. But really I love it all.

Your turn!

Hey, ya'll. Happy Friday.

Okay, so... my blog is *obviously* mid-makeover. I know it's not pretty. But it will be. So just, please...overlook the mess. :)

I mentioned in my last post that I have the most boring blog ever. All i do lately is memes. But i did not promise to stop doing said memes. I just would like to have some deeper posts as well. And I'll get there. Soon. But first. Five Question Friday.

1. Do you apologize to your kids?

I will if i am in the wrong. I remember mine doing that & it meant a lot to me. It shows that humility is good. That it is okay to be wrong sometimes. But it won't be like Full House where in the end, the parent is always wrong. Just sayin.

2. What color are your nails right now?

I never paint my fingernails. I feel like they're too short. But i want to grow them a bit & start painting them. My toenails are Opi Cajun Shrimp. Love.

3. When you were growing up, how difficult was it for you to stay home from school sick? (As in, did you have to vomit or just say "i don't feel good?")

I had to be REALLY sick. I had to vomit or be running fever. Mom was strict! I do know that I fooled her a few times... I'd be scared to go for some reason (a test or speech or mean girls) & i'd fake it... sometimes she bought it. Sometimes she didn't. But there were also times where I truly WAS sick & she'd make me go anyway, thinking i was faking it! Haha.

4. When is the last time you bought a new comforter for your bed?

We're using the Potterybarn quilt that we registered for. Mom & Dad bought it for a wedding gift. It's been on the bed since we got married. I love it!

5. Favorite Websites?
Just blogs... visit my blogroll to see!

Happy Friday!

I suck. I know.

My blog has gotten really really boring.

REALLY.

I'm not sure what happened. I was sailing along just fine, with the occasional (ok, more than occasional) meme... you know, those questionaire thingies. I think those are fine & i'll continue to do them because they provide a little fun in an otherwise not-so-fun workday. :) Since that's usually when i do them. But where are my "real" posts? The ones where I talk about what God is teaching me? They ones where i tell funny stories of what's been happening? The ones where i VENT? The ones where i gush about how much I love my husband & make all of you clasp your hands together & say "AW!" or roll your eyes at me & click out of my blog. ASAP.

Yeah. BORING BORING BLOG. I think i could win the award for "Most Boring Blog of 2011".

I'm going to try to work on that, okay? I mean, I LOVE to write. I used to want to be an author. And people used to tell me i SHOULD be an author! You would never know that now, huh?

I still post pics of weekend happenings & all that stuff, but i need something more. I've been sitting here all night in a blogging mood but have only been reading other ones instead. I have nothing to say. Nothing new, anyway. Part of this is because all i've done since late March is eat/sleep/breathe theatre. Now that that's over, I need to start writing again. I don't want to win the "Boring Blog of the Year" award. Ya know?

Another part of it is that other than my weightloss struggle (which i vent about over there), life is pretty good. I'm not saying that in an I've-got-it-all-together kind of way. AT ALL. It's just that, well... I'm kind of at a good place in my life right now. Those single years (which were fun for awhile & then got downright depressing) are over & i am truly loving day to day life with Brad. We have our struggles, but they're mainly to do with paychecks & finances & broken washing machines & air conditioners. We don't have kids yet, so I have no cute stories to tell or parenting issues to discuss. Mostly we're just working, coming home, relaxing, and going back to work.

A-HA! There it is: Boring life = Boring blog.

Life is far from boring, actually. But I do need to challenge myself & share it all here. And I'm going to do that. But not tonight. Tonight I'm just going to share the latest with you. Bullet-style.

{we heart it}

-I still love married life. LOVE. It has still not become what people said it would become. Thank the LORD. I know we'll have our ups & downs, but so far? I LOVE IT.

-I'm still eating right & exercising my booty off. A new discovery...not sure if i've shared this here yet...doc is pretty sure i am Insulin Resistant. Going to the Metabolic Clinic next week. This will really help me out, because as most of you know, I have worked my tail off since January with NO results. NONE. (It sucks.)

-My work has gotten a lot LESS stressful - WHEW! I still have rough days, but for awhile there it was daily... glad that's not so bad. OOOOHH! & my Office BFF that went on maternity leave? She returns on Tuesday. HOORAY!!!!!

-Theatre is DONE. I'm glad. But I can't wait to go see my friend Marion take on Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray & my very good friend Danielle as Penny!! (Perfect Casting. My friend Rachel & I called it before auditions & I crossed my fingers that they would both be auditioning.)

-My theatre friends Lee & Paula get married tomorrow! I don't think I can make the wedding. I am sad about this. Also, my bootcamp buddy Lauren gets married on Saturday!

-I haven't been to church in.... a long time. Again. I don't know why i struggle with this. PLEASE understand that my relationship with God is just fine, thankyouverymuch. I love Him & talk to him all day long. But i guess we ("we" being me & brad...not me & God) just don't feel like we fit in ANYWHERE... (partly our fault, since we don't actually go to anything besides Sunday mornings). Anyway... I may do an entire post on this soon. (This is what i get for being all holier-than-thou years ago & just NOT GETTING those people who were not in church Sun morning, Sun night, Wed night & Friday night.)

-Girls Night Out scheduled for June 5th. Yeah, we're all so ridiculously busy that we have to schedule it that much in advance. On the agenda is dinner & the movie "something borrowed". I cannot wait, as i am currently obsessed with Emily Giffin. I hope it's still playing by then.

-(I think i mentioned some of this already...which means i'm an even worse blogger than i thought.) My MIL recently gave me a GROUPON for $100 at Ashley Furniture. I'm going Monday. It expires on Tuesday. WHEW! No idea what I will get. My mother (who was an interior designer in a past life) is going to be out of town, so hubby will be joining me instead... he's not so much the interior decorator. But he'll be good company.

-I cannot wait to go back to The Londoner. Their food was so delish. Ohmygoodness.

Well, that's all I've got. Un-boring posts coming your way soon.

(But first some of those meme things. Probably. I mean, tomorrow's Friday after all.)

**apparently after writing this post, i realized i was bored with the entire blog in general & decided - at 1 am, mind you - to do a blog makeover. Then i almost had a heart attack when i realized just how late it was... OH CRAP. Going to bed now. So excuse the not matchy fonts & all. I'll get to it.**

Wee Bit Wednesday!!

Time for some Wee Bit. Because it makes me happy.

1. What's the worst date you've ever been on?
Ugh. In my single days, i joined some christian version of Match.com & after talking to this guy that i thought HAD to be my match made in heaven, i went on a date with him. OMG. MOST ANNOYING PERSON EVER. I swore off online dating after that. Brad called me 2 months later. :)

2. If you could be any other person for one day, who would it be?
I'm pretty sure it would be pretty awesome to be Amy Adams.

3. What is your favorite kind of cheese?
I've never met a cheese i didn't like.
Seriously.

4. Do you remember your first grade teacher?
Yes. Her name was Mrs. Cranfield. She had red hair.

5. Who is the first person you call when you have a bad day?
Brad.

6. Were you ever in a school talent show?
Yeah, i was in several. I always sang.

7. Who is your favorite fictional character?
I love all of the characters in the Emily Giffin books. Except the ones I love to hate.

8. Can you open your eyes under water?
Yes...and i do...but i shouldn't...with contacts in. I try not to, but i can't help it if i'm swimming a lap or something...

9. Do you look at the keyboard when you type?
Not often.

10. When was the last time you took a nap?
I think Saturday? Before heading to the theatre?

That was fun. Your turn? :)

Cast Party at The Londoner

Yesterday was our last performance of It Runs in the Family. It was CRAZY, ya'll! As a Stage Manager, one of your responsibilities is getting the audience members into the house & starting the show. The doors must be closed. People scooting down rows to their seats & trying to find seats in the dark is just a terrible distraction... so we wait until everyone is seated (this is standard at any theatre). We try our best to start on time, but sometimes it can't happen because there are SOOO many people there, it takes awhile to get everyone seated & the doors shut. For every performance, we've started on time or 2-3 minutes late. This show, we started 16 minutes late! Why? Well, because it was our last performance & people were showing up hoping that others wouldn't show so they could have their seats! (FYI - if you do that, it's a good idea to show up BEFORE the time the show is supposed to start!)

ANYWAY... at one point the director of the theatre told me i'd better get in the sound booth because i wouldn't be able to get in once he added an entire ROW! Haha. Yep, he added 6 or 7 seats to the very back. We FINALLY were good to go. Whew! Crazy!

After the show (which was the BEST audience and performance, by the way!), we all had STRIKE. Time to tear down the set. Not my favorite part. But this cast had ZERO complaints (highly unusual lol) & just got to work! We took down ALL of the set... and it took about an hour and a half. Then we all went home, freshened up a bit, picked up our dates & headed to The Londoner!

The Londoner is supposed to be an authentic english pub. I have no idea if it is, because i've never been to England, but let me just say. The food was AMAZING. And not expensive. It was sooo good, that Brad & i have decided we're going to have to go back 100 more times or so, because EVERYTHING on the menu sounded delicious. Here's what we got... (I was not really being healthy here...don't judge.)

Brad's Shepherd's Pie (which he said was PERFECT & i agree because i had a bite!)

My Fish & Chips. Oh man. YUM.

It was delish & I hope to go back soon! We had a great time hanging out, too! I'll miss these guys! This was by far one of my favorite shows to stage manage. Fun & easy!! Very little stress. Lots of excitement. Lots of fun. Great, drama-free cast. LOVE. Enjoy the pics from our cast party!

Ben & Mary. Ben was in the play (Dr. Connelly) & Mary was my Assistant Stage Manager. She did a great job! He was hilarious in the show. Love them!

Kelly (who played Matron) & Phil (who played Sergeant & who also was an usher in my wedding, haha!). Seriously. EVERYONE needs someone like Phil & Kelly in their life. Such sweet, fun-to-be-around, enjoyable people. LOVE them!

This is Kevin, the director of the show. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him. His card to me said that next time he directs, I have to be his Stage Manager. "No ifs! No ands! No buts!" he said. I told him that is fine by me. He has joined an exclusive club of "directors i am willing to work with again". :) HA!

Zac & Tiera, both LSU students & the "younguns" in the cast. He played Leslie & she played the Sister on the ward. They both did a fantastic job & i enjoyed getting to know them (their BRLT debuts).

Joe, who played Sir Drake, & his lovely wife. She was sooo sweet, i liked her instantly. Joe is the guy who stepped into this role a week & a half before opening night. He knew his lines after 1 rehearsal. Made what could have been a stressful situation not stressful at all. :)

Jennifer & Albert, two of my favorite people. She is one of my role models for real! She is such a great actress. Albert is hilarious...& he did a perfect job as Dr. Mortimore. She played his wife, Rosemary.

Brigette, who played Nurse Tate & her little date, Brenden (her son). Is he not a CUTIE PATOOTIE! Oh my goodness, i just couldn't stop listening to him talk. SO SWEET!

Joe (Drake), John (Bill) & Glenn (Dr Bonney). These guys were great. Hilarious! And Glenn isn't that short. He's sitting on a stool. Haha.

Me & my sweet hubby! Love him!! :)

I am always ready for a show to be over... I tend to miss my hubby & my sleep a lot after a couple of weeks! But i still will definitely miss this cast! I look forward to seeing Zac & Ben in Hairspray & John as Daddy Warbucks in Annie (at another local theatre) soon! :)

Erin's Shower

On Saturday, Brad & I headed to HeartsEase Family Life Church (where we used to attend) for a friend's co-ed wedding shower. If this sounds like de ja vu, it's because her sister got married last year & we went to her shower at the church also. (Megan got married July 10th last year & Erin is getting married July 16th this year.) We had a really great time getting to hang out with old friends again! :)

Let me tell you, I just LOVE the people of HeartsEase. They are so genuine, kind & unpretentious & i love that. They are real. Of course we have our reasons for making our church home somewhere else, but everytime we go back, there is NEVER a feeling of ... i don't know. But you know what i mean, right? It's like, so many churches see it as a bad thing that you found somewhere else to go. Or like they don't believe it's a God-thing. Even if they pretend to be happy for you, they kind of have an edge to their attitude & it makes you unsure. Well, i don't know if i'm making any sense, but just know that we don't even get the SLIGHTEST feeling like this there. It's all "HOW ARE YOU! WE MISS YOU!" but there's no awkwardness or "so, where have YOU been?!" Haha. I love them.

Anyway, Erin is the worship leader there & she is AWESOME (at leading worship. AMAZING voice. She actually sang "at last" by Etta James at our wedding). She found the man for her & what a great guy he is! I'd never met him until the shower, but when they told us the story of how they met & how he proposed, i just loved him. She got a good one! :)

Some pics from the shower...

Um, yeah. DELICIOUS.

Mollie. Isn't she a cutie? Pastor P & Kelly's girl. She was trying to win a game, thus the clothespins...

This is Megan, Erin's sister who got married last July. Gorgeous, i know.

My friend Sarah who i used to sing on the praise team with. Love love love her!

Pastor Philip & Kelly.

Sarah, Lizzie & Josh (Erin's brother). Josh has lost over 100 pounds. It's just crazy to look at him now. Awesome. Anyway... i miss this group!!

The sweet & happy couple - Erin & Jonathan

Me & Erin. LOVE her!!!

And i just realized that the pics I had someone take of me & brad didn't upload for some reason. Not cool... I'll have to check that out!!

We had a great time & I can't wait until her wedding July 16th!

Getting to know YOU Sunday

Well, today is the last performance of It Runs in the Family, which has been  hysterical & so much fun to be a part of. I'm glad it's over, though. I'm ready to be HOME more often & I miss my husband! Today's performance is a matinee & then we have Strike (tearing down the set) & then the cast party, which is being held at The Londoner, a new restaurant in town. We thought it fitting since It Runs in the Family is a British farce. Brad is coming to the cast party, too. I'm looking forward to it!

Anyway...before I run... I'm ready for Getting to Know YOU with MannLand5.

1. What's your favorite rainy day activity?
Snuggling up with a good book or movie.

2. What time do you go to bed?
During a show, about 11:30 or later. This is why i'm so exhausted. I like my sleep! Now that the show is over, I'll be in bed by 10. Hopefully! :)

3. How many magazines do you subscribe to?
I get 4 in the mail each month... but i didn't pay for any of them. Southern Living is a gift from my mother-in-law. Entertainment Weekly, Real Simple & Health are three that i got a free year subscription to. I'm going to be real sad when the year is up & I have to pay if i want to renew them!

4. Did you sell all your belongings because you thought the world was ending yesterday?
Definitely not. No man knows the day or the hour! I feel sorry for the people that believed that nonsense. I saw this sign on FB today & i just love it. Have to share.

 5. What's your beauty obsession?
Chapstick. Lame, i know. But it's the only thing i HAVE to have, even on days where I'm not wearing makeup.

6. If you could only wear one designer/brand for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Um...i have no idea...

7. What's your summer must-have?
Flip flops. And sunglasses.

8. Do you make weekly dinner menus?
Some weeks... not every week...

Your turn! And...happy Sunday! :)
