Know the Word & Write the Vision!

Sunday was good. We had a guest speaker at our church & his name is Joe McGee. If you have never heard him, I hope you get a chance to sometime. He's HILARIOUS. And blunt. And good. I really enjoy him! Although he talks SUPER fast, hahaha. I missed writing a lot of the scripture references! But i just wanted to share some things that he said. It was good stuff!

He talked about having a vision. How God says that without a vision, we perish. And that we are to write our visions down. You may have heard this stuff before, as it is all in the Bible! But it was a great reminder. I am sometimes so stagnant as a Christian. I mean, I am praying & praising God more & more, but i have to work at reading my Bible. And i don't know if i think about my own vision like i used to all the time. I was challenged & I hope you are too. Not going to expound much, because it's pretty well said. :)

He touched on Marriage & Parenting too because that is where his heart is... here are some of his quotes from Sunday's message.

-Everyone is looking to gain wealth, look younger & be healthy! But WISDOM is how you get all of these things!

-God has a great plan for your life! But He won't make you live it.

-The devil doesn't respect your education or your morality or anything else. The only thing he respects is the Word of God in you! If it's not in you, then you have nothing to stand on.

-You don't get a stripe for every year you are married! You didn't join an army...you joined a relationship! "I've been married 40 years!" - This means nothing if you do not date & romance & love your spouse.

Joshua 1:8, "Study this book of instruction continuously. Meditate on it day & night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper & succeed in all that you do."

-What you feed on in abundance is what is in you in abundance.

Psalm 19:14, "May the words of my mouth & the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, oh Lord my God, my rock & my redeemer."

-God will not force His way in your life! People always saying, "Well, God's Will will be done!" Not if you don't let it!

This is why you have nothing: You haven't ASKED.

James 4:2, "You want what you don't have, so you scheme & kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can't get it, so you fight & wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don't have what you want because you don't ask God for it."

(This is my favorite verse!) 1 John 5:14-15, "And we are confident that He hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases Him. And since we know that He hears us when we make our requests, we also know that He will give us what we ask for."

-You don't find a great marriage. You build one.

Husbands are...
Lovers (Eph 5:25-29), Leaders (1 Cor 11:3), Providers (1 Tim 5:8).

Wives are...
Helpers (Gen 2:18-22), Managers (1 Tim 5:14), Lovers (Titus 2:4).

I hope you enjoyed this! It's good stuff!

  1. Oh my gosh!!! I'm starting to sound like Joe McGee hahaha! You have no idea how many of those things I have said in the past week or how many of those verses I have used! Crazy. :)

But I love this one a lot...
"Everyone is looking to gain wealth, look younger & be healthy! But WISDOM is how you get all of these things!"

I've been seeing that sooo much while reading Proverbs and talking to Mike about it and writing almost that exact thing in my journal. Wisdom is awesome!
